World Champion visits Aerials!

2007 World Champion and 2008 Olympic Alternate Ivana Hong spent a long weekend at Minnesota Aerials earlier this fall.  While in China in August, Hong and coach Melissa became friends and hatched a plant to have Ivana come visit Minnesota. 

After a delay at the Kansas City Airport due to a tornado warning, Ivana finally made it to Minnesota.  We spent a couple days exploring the Mall of America, which she had never done! The team gymnasts enjoyed having Ivana as part of their training group during a Saturday practice. They learned a lot about good form, polish and how hard elite gymnasts work every day in the gym. 

We timed Ivana's visit in conjuction with our 1st anniversary open house.  She signed autographs and took pictures with visitors.  We dubbed her an "honorary coach" as she helped warm-up the team girls and led them during the National Team Dance demonstration.  For pictures, visit the photo album section of the website.

Minnesota Aerials wishes Ivana the best of luck in her search for a new gym and hopes she comes back to  visit soon!
